During fiscal
year 2005, West Central introduced several upgrades to
its manufacturing facilities. One of these upgrades
included the addition of Ailmet to the available
ingredients list. Ailmet is a liquid source of
Methionine. Liquid ingredients assist in the reduction
of dust in the manufacturing process.
West Central has also begun working with Holsen Quality
Calf. Holsen is a dairy replacement/calf raising company
that helps locate high quality calves. Holsen will also
assist source buyers for the 400-pound animals, as well
as marketing the finished animals.
Daily, new regulations and systems are set into place.
For this reason, West Central seeks out educational
opportunities on a continuous basis. This education
serves two purposes. First, it allows West Central to
create and manufacture the highest-standard feed for
livestock. Secondly, this information is shared with
cooperative members, allowing members to advance their
knowledge and better care for their livestock. |

ISO Certification
West Central’s feed mills are within a year’s time of achieving
ISO Certification. The feed mill and soy processing center
(Ralston, IA) are expected to complete and attain ISO
Certification by 2008.
The ISO 9000 quality management system is a series of
international standards adopted in 1987 to establish one
universal, internationally recognized concept of quality.
Certification is awarded by the International Organization for
Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland.
